Position Overview:
Facilitate the temporary isolation of confirmed COVID-19 students living on campus following public health protocol. Through coordinated efforts with EH&S Emergency Operation Center, Student Health Services, Student Residential Life and Transportation Services ensure the safety of the student and the community in which they live by providing escort services to students who reside on campus to isolation housing (IH) in a timely and supported manner.
Specific duties will include:

Under the general supervision of the EOC, collaborate with Student Health Services, Student Residential Life and Transportation Services, to coordinate the timely and safe transport of confirmed COVID-19 individuals to isolation housing (IH).

Ensure compliance with public health protocols regarding wearing face coverings and PPE prior to transport.

Provide support for a smooth transition to IH, answer questions and provide related information and resources. Record drop off per established procedures.

Provide students in IH with logistics support, information and resources pertaining to their stay in IH.

Ensure the timely and safe delivery of personal belongings.

Using a University vehicle, may be required to safely transport and escort confirmed COVID-19 individuals from their residence to the designated isolation housing, in accordance with public health protocols.

In accordance with public health protocols and training, disinfect the UC San Diego vehicle after completing a transport as appropriate.

Provide confirmed COVID-19 individuals with Housing Welcome Information Packet informing them of the isolation housing process and the resources available throughout the duration of isolation.

Escort the COVID-19 Individual to room, if requested.

Disinfect touch-points of the confirmed COVID-19 individual’s residence and the isolation housing, if applicable.

Complete required reports with accuracy.

Maintain strict confidentiality regarding customer identities and health information, along with other protected information, as required by HIPAA, FERPA, and campus or department policy.

Attend and complete mandatory training.
-
Comply with all traffic and Department of Transportation regulations.
-
Demonstrate ongoing commitment to safety.
-
Participate in department organizational improvement efforts, including generating/implementing ideas for process and service improvements.

Coordinate appropriate transportation for individuals with disabilities consistent with ADA and DOT regulations.

Provide exceptional customer service.
-
Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and professional team environment.

Qualifications:
-
Upon hire, you must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. Original, unexpired documents required.

Work Study preferred but not required.
-
Must pay UC San Diego Student Services fees each quarter working (must have paid Spring 2020 UC San Diego Student Services Fees or be an incoming Fall 2020 new admit or readmit student to work summer).

Must have the ability to maintain a high level of discretion and respect for sensitive information.

Knowledge of public health COVID-19 protocols.

Knowledge of personal protective equipment.

Must be able to work independently and possess analytical skills.

Ability to prioritize workload with accuracy.

Must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse populations.

Must be able to work 10-19.5 hours per week.
Special Conditions of Employment:
-
DMV background check and clearance required prior to operating a UC vehicle and transporting students.
-
Will participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
-
Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License and be willing to operate a UC San Diego vehicle.

Must be willing to transport confirmed COVID-19 students.
-
Must successfully complete HIPAA and FERPA training.
-
Required to take and maintain the university’s cyber security training.
-
Required to take and maintain the university’s sexual harassment for non-managers training.

Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators, and respond to health and safety emergencies.
